7th grade Mathematics 2015 – 2016
Course Description: The primary focal areas in Grade 7 are number and operations; proportionality; expressions, equations, and relationships; and measurement and data.
Resources/Textbooks: Texas Go Math Grade 7 (Houghton, Mifflin and Harcourt), Measuring Up Level G (Peoples Education)

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
CONSEQUENCES:
Choosing to break school or classroom rules will result in the following consequences:
1st offense: Verbal Reprimand
2nd and 3rd offence: Conference with student, name in Discipline Log, call to parents
4th offense: Administrative referral
*Severe infractions will result in immediate dismissal from class and referral to principal’s office.
Working together and following class rules will create a relaxed and atmosphere that is conducive to learning.
- Follow classroom norms
- Use inside voice
- Follow dresscode
- Listen while others speak
- Use appropriate language
- Maintain personal space
- Keep hands feet to yourself
- No food or drinks
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
- Be prepared with all materials (in this class you must bring your headphones with you everyday)
- Complete all assignments
- Follow directions
- SLANT (Sit up, Lean forward, Ask questions, Nod your head, Track the speaker)

HOMEWORK:
All homework will be turned in on a timely manner; furthermore, points will be deducted for every day that the assignment is late (excluding absences): 1-day late 10 point deduction, 2-days late 20 point deduction, after the third day the assignment will receive a grade of zero. In order to be successful in math class, students will need to turn in work on a timely manner and practice good study habits.
INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK GRADE: Notebooks will be graded every 6 weeks at the end of each grading period. Students are required to keep notebooks organized and bring their notebooks to class on a daily basis.
BINDER GRADE: Binders will be graded every 6 weeks at the end of each grading period. Students are required to keep their binders organized and bring their binders to class on a daily basis.
QUIZZES: There will be a minimum of 2 to 3 quizzes per week. Students are responsible for studying the current material for the week. In case of an absence, the student will need to make-up the quiz the following day before school or during lunch. Test will be administered at the end of each unit/topic covered.
GRADING FORMULA: As per district policy, daily assignments and quizzes will consist of 75% of the overall average and the remaining 25% will consist of tests/projects.
ABSENCES: The student will be allowed 2 days of make-up time for every instructional day that he/she is absent. It is the student’s responsibility to copy any notes they missed while absent from someone in their class. The student will copy the notes the following day during lunch or in the morning. It is the student’s responsibility to report to me for any make-up work.
TUTORING: All students must attend tutoring when average falls below a 75% or as suggested by the teacher. Please refer to the tutoring schedule for days and times.
